Sruti Islam is a reader, and sometimes writer.

She has several years of experience working in publishing—formerly a book publicist for Drawn and Quarterly (for Nick Drnaso, Elise Gravel, and Michael DeForge etc), as well as Anteism Books (for Solange Knowles, Devendra Banhart) and Metonymy (Shola Von Reinhold), among many others.

She founded Weird Era, a literary space, in 2019. It has since developed into Weird Era, a literary podcast, as well as a literary arts journal: Weird Era.

She was a member of the Quebec Writers Federation Board of Directors in 2022.

She served as Assistant Director of a theatrical adaptation of Annie Baker’s, “The Flick” at Centaur Theatre (Persephone Productions).

She continues to freelance in literary and cultural coverage, while contributing marketing copy commercially.
